New Media Art Development

So I have been really into my major lately, more so than normal. It is probably because I am almost done with my undergraduate degree towards New Media Art aiming for Animation, specifically character design in animation. I am in the Intro to New Media Art right now and it has been really invigorating and informative towards the subject and its sub branches and sub categories, animation included.

I have also added two classes in Advanced New Media Art and Expiramental 3D to my class list for Spring, but I need to submit to the portfolio review by mid November and get a written permission from my teacher to allow me into the advanced classes in the degree.

I am still not sure if I want to graduate school. I feel that my parents might disapprove considering it would mean more time, money, and college and they have been wanting me out of Brookhaven and UNT for almost a year now. I get really annoyed when they start complaining or tell me that I was only suppose to be in college for four years, believing entirely that meant four physical years since 2007 when really it means by the credit hours of four grade levels and 30 credits per grade level. I am a Senior now and hopefully almost done. Hopefully by the end of next Spring or Summer, I will graduate and be able to move on towards my career.

Since my career implies my advance intelligence, practice, and experiment in animation, I have been looking up Animation Studios across the country. A few I have my heart set on are: Pixar, Funimation, Bandai Entertainment, and Dreamworks. I really don't want to work for a Disney Corporation. I really don't approve of their legal processes when it comes to copyright restrictions. I do want to work on a team and focus towards animation itself and character designing with drawing the character in a particular style asked and developing the characters and drawing them through out the animation process. I am really working towards that and have been improving and practicing with my anatomy, proportions and personal style. I feel it has helped greatly. Not to mention I am also going to take an Advanced Figure Drawing class to help better that as well. I would love to take a character design class in cartooning and comic styles. If it isn't provided professionally, I would try self-teaching myself the best I can. It's difficult considering it isn't a style I have practiced much in or studied throughly. Hopefully, when I have the time and effort, I will consider practicing in my own cartoon style rather than taking one from another artist or animation series. There's no room for using another style as a crutch.

I love his baby face more...How come he changed in only 5 years?

CopyLEFT

I support the fair use of ideas. I am a CopyLEFT. I believe the artist has the right and free speech to create from the old, remix it, change it, and use it in their own creative process. Artists in painting, drawing, and even writing have done it for years. Walt Disney did it as well. It was the Disney corporation that decided to make sure that never happened again, by restricting the fair use within the public domain and putting copyright on all of its characters and stories. Other corporations do it too. Well, I support the CC and the fair use of original works respectfully and by respectfully, I mean giving credit where credit is due but also building upon that work within your own creative process.

When we start evolving in electronics and technology and are able to share files between individuals, the consumer become a distributor at not cost to those who are receiving the files. It is a never-ending cycle. We create something to share with others, it is part of the process of creation. If a musician wants to make a living off of what they create and the corporations share it with the public domain, they are making a profit off of it and gaining a income from it. But by sharing it to the public domain, they are essentially creating the problem they wish to control. It is ludicrous to think you can control something that is out of control with policies and laws that cannot be enforced. And because technology is building itself from past creations, it is a medium allowing the problem to continue. It is crazy to think that copyright infringement means we are thieves, pirates, and stealing another person's work for our own personal gain. We are sharing it with other people who supposed should pay for it themselves. It is greedy corruption. However, we are not stealing it, we are remixing it, sharing it, just like we share ideas and opinions through conversation. If we didn't want the idea to soak with another intelligent being who could possible use it to benefit themselves, we should just stitch our mouths shut and shut up. We are social creatures, we need to share, we need to exchange ideas and information for the sake of building upon it. It is evolution. We talk about how there is no originality, well taking two ideas and putting them together is original because within its process it is creative, it is an new innovative idea building upon an old product. It is not saying that we don't masturbate when we all have done it at least once in our lives. We cannot control it because it is natural. We do it because are suppose to. It is part of who we are as human beings, as individuals.

So, if anyone wanted to take my ideas, my artwork, and remix it or use it within their own work, build from it because they are inspired by it, all I have to say is, give credit where credit is due, respectfully. If you are stealing it because you wish to use it against me, then that is piracy. You are don't it in spite of me based on some negative reason you may have. If you wish to share it or build from it, then I am glad I have inspired someone with my work. I am glad I was able to add to the creative process to help others build within their own originality. I don't care how you do it but please if you do be respectful and either tell me first, ask, or give credit that you were inspired by me. That is all I ask. I am not going to stop posting my artwork online, I am not going to stop being inspired by others within my own creative process. I am going to support your creative process by allowing you to share it in your own way. CC it if you need to. If you put a CC by it, then I don't know you shared it or you wish for it to be shared and to be honest, I may do that as well because I will not be a hypocrite to my beliefs and opinions. I do it too. I won't sit here and say that I don't take ideas from others and use them respectfully in my own way. I am not that kind of person. I will express it in my own way if I can and give credit where credit is due. I expect them same courtesy from you.

This is Halloween! This is Halloween!

Hey Fishies!

So, It's finally October, finally Fall! I have a big list of stuff I am going to do this month aside from homework and projects here and there which I will talk about briefly in a sec.

So aside from a test in Business, a lot of online activities for the course before Monday, and more group project work, we can finally let loose in Watercolor! We are doing mixed media right now which I am exited about. I also get to pick my subjects and stuff to draw, I don't HAVE to do the techniques as they have been mandatory in the past. And in New Media, we are working with sounds. We are suppose to go out and record sounds and put a story with it. I am kind of thinking of the story right now as well as the image I might do in Watercolor. I might be inspired by anything that comes my way but hopefully something will spark.
